- He was a French Protestant who lived on the Isle of Re and was forced to flee France because of his religion. He went to Plymouth, England in 1685.
Daniel Jouett was the ancestor of all the American Jouetts or Jewetts.
Daniel Jouett fled from France in 1685 following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes by Louis XIV. He went first to Plymouth, England and from there to Rhode Island. He arrived in Rhode Island in August of 1686. It is believed that he traveled on the ship "Caroline" to the Narragansett Settlement, Rhode Island.
Will written June 7, 1711, probated October 10, 1721 in Elizabethtown, New Jersey.
